The edge could be sharper. Not a super big issue for those who know how to sharpen blades. I haven't tested if it will hold the edge well but the steel seems to be of high quality.
I kept this knife in my purse, but I recently used it to cut my carpet out. I was trying to use a traditional "carpet cutter", but being a 55 year old woman, muscle was still required and that was unsuccessful. I remembered the knife in my purse, it slid through that old carpet like a hot knife through butter. I can only imagine it's effectiveness if used in a self defense scenario.
